About the SICK G6 Small Photoelectric Sensors
The G6 family is SICK's compact, cost-effective photoelectric sensor for everyday detection tasks. The GL6 retro-reflective versions are among the most requested SICK sensors: the sensor sends light to a reflector opposite it and switches when a product breaks the beam, reliably up to about 6 metres (12 m for the GL6L long-range version).
The small housing fits tight conveyor frames and guides, and a bright visible red light spot makes alignment quick for maintenance staff. "G" versions (GL6G) use a polarisation filter so shiny or wrapped products do not fool the sensor — the right choice for bottles, film-wrapped packs and metal cans.

Yes. Retro-reflective sensors work with a reflector mounted opposite the sensor. We supply suitable SICK reflectors with the sensor.
When should I choose GL6G instead of GL6?
Use the polarised GL6G when the products are shiny, wrapped in film or reflective, so their reflection is not mistaken for the reflector.
