About the SICK DFS60 Incremental Encoders
Incremental encoders turn shaft rotation into pulses so a PLC or drive can measure speed, length and position. The SICK DFS60 is a 60 mm industrial encoder used on conveyors, cutting machines, winders and motors, with a wide choice of shafts and flanges to fit existing mechanics.
The type code shows the mechanics and electronics: S4 is a 10 mm solid shaft with face-mount flange, BD a blind hollow shaft, TE/TJ a through hollow shaft; E versions have HTL push-pull outputs, while programmable B/I versions (…PA/PC) let you set the pulses per revolution and output level yourself. That makes a programmable DFS60 a practical single spare for several machines.
