About the Pepperl+Fuchs Ultrasonic Sensors
Ultrasonic sensors measure distance with sound, so they work where optical sensors struggle: transparent bottles and film, dark or shiny surfaces, dusty or foggy air, and liquid levels in tanks. Pepperl+Fuchs is one of the best-known makers of industrial ultrasonic sensors.
The UB series gives a switching output with five selectable output functions, set by teaching the switching points. The UC series adds analog 4–20 mA and 0–10 V outputs for continuous level or distance measurement, and can be configured with the ULTRA 3000 software. The first number in the code is the maximum range in millimetres: a UB2000 measures up to 2 m, a UC6000 up to 6 m.

Choose UB for an on/off switching point (for example high level alarm). Choose UC for a continuous 4–20 mA or 0–10 V signal to the PLC.
Can ultrasonic sensors measure foam or steam?
Heavy foam absorbs sound and steam can disturb measurement. Tell us the process conditions and we check whether ultrasonic is suitable or recommend an alternative.
