About the Pepperl+Fuchs Capacitive Sensors
Capacitive sensors detect almost any material — liquid, powder, granules, wood, plastic, glass — not just metal. That makes them the standard choice for level detection in hoppers, silos and tanks, and for checking fill levels through a plastic or glass wall.
Most Pepperl+Fuchs capacitive sensors have a sensitivity potentiometer, so the sensor can be adjusted to ignore the container wall and react only to the product behind it. Flush-mount types (CBB, CCB) sit level with the mounting surface; non-flush types (CBN, CCN) reach further and are preferred for bulk materials.
We supply capacitive sensors in the common thread sizes and in rectangular housings for flat mounting. Tell us the material to be detected, the wall material and thickness, and we recommend the right sensor and setting.

Yes, if the wall is non-metallic and not too thick. Adjust the sensitivity so the sensor ignores the empty wall and switches when the liquid is behind it.
