About the Murrelektronik MICO Electronic Circuit Protection
In a 24 V control circuit, a single short circuit on a sensor cable can pull the power supply down and stop the entire machine. MICO modules prevent this. They sit between the power supply and the loads, monitor each output channel separately and switch off only the channel that is overloaded or short-circuited — the rest of the machine keeps running.
Unlike miniature circuit breakers, MICO trips reliably even on long cables and weak power supplies, and the trip current of each channel can be set on the front (for example 1–2–4–6 A or 4–6–8–10 A). MICO+ adds a status output and remote reset for the PLC; MICO BASIC is the economical fixed-current version; MICO Pro is modular for large cabinets.

Why not use MCBs for 24 V circuits?
A switch-mode power supply often cannot deliver enough current to trip an MCB quickly, especially over long cables. MICO measures current electronically and switches off the faulty channel reliably.
