About the Murrelektronik IMPACT67 Fieldbus I/O Modules
Decentral I/O moves the input and output modules out of the control cabinet and onto the machine. Sensors and valves plug into an IP67 module with short M12 cables, and a single fieldbus cable runs back to the PLC — far less wiring, a smaller cabinet and faster fault-finding.
IMPACT67 is Murrelektronik's compact module family for this. Each module has 8 or 16 digital channels that can be used as inputs or outputs, and the Pro versions add 8 IO-Link master ports for smart sensors. Versions exist for PROFINET (Siemens PLCs), EtherNet/IP (Allen-Bradley) and EtherCAT, with M12 L-coded or 7/8" power connectors.

Use a PROFINET (PN) version. The GSDML file is loaded into TIA Portal and the module appears like any other PROFINET device.
What is IO-Link and do I need it?
IO-Link is a point-to-point interface for smart sensors. It lets the PLC set sensor parameters and read diagnostics. Standard sensors still work on the DIO channels.
