About the KATKO Polycarbonate Enclosed Isolators (KEM)
A local isolator next to a motor lets maintenance staff switch off and lock out the machine before working on it — a basic safety requirement on conveyors, pumps, fans and HVAC units. KATKO's IsoSafe KEM range puts a fully rated load-break switch in a tough polycarbonate enclosure that resists UV, rain and many chemicals, so the same isolator works on a rooftop chiller and inside a food factory.
The reference shows the poles and current: in KEM 340 M3 the 3 is the number of poles, 40 the rated current in amps and M3 the enclosure size. The handle can be padlocked in the OFF position, and the door interlock stops the cover being opened while the switch is on.
